The Wizards have Mo Baker, Renaldo Major, Romel Beck and David Bell set to come back to Bismarck.
Those guys are all perimeter players and so the Wizards were looking for some big guys in the draft and they got a couple with the first two picks. With the 11th pick the Wizards went with 6`8" 230-pound Curtis Withers. Withers has played the past three years overseas after playing collegiately at Charlotte.
Rory White: "I know he`s a low post scorer, he can play with his back to the basket. He`s a big force inside. I think he can defend the four or the five spot. He`s athletic, he runs the floor and I think he`s going to be a beast inside for us."
In the 2nd round the Wizards picked 6`8" Doug Thomas. Thomas is an extremely athletic post player that graduated from Iowa a few years back. Former Wizard Carlos Powell was the first overall selection in the draft by Albuquerque. |
