Finding a comfortable pair of eyeglasses is now an easier process for customers. Because optometrists are using new technology to prescribe lenses.
Dr. Tim Tello has a new tool at his disposal when it comes to finding the right pair of glasses.
"Once we determine what your prescription is, this is where we go next to make sure that prescription is fit accurately for you," he said.
The program is called Visioffice. It uses wave front technology to measure a human eye from all angles to within one tenth of a millimeter.
"You can take pictures of yourself with any frame on, and then view it later on up to four pictures at a time. We can email this to you at home so you can show your friends and family as well," Tello said.
Tello adds that the new Visioffice system offers state-of-the-art technology as well.
"In 30 seconds, it can take over 20 parametric measurements for eyeglass dispensing."
As technology has improved, so has the selection. Those who need glasses now have more choices on the market based on both function and style.
"Glasses are becoming very sophisticated in what they can do to improve your vision. Not only down the center of the lens, but also peripherally on the lens," Tello said.
Giving customers a few more choices when they pick a pair of frames from the rack.
Dr. Tello is at Eye Center of the Dakotas in Bismarck.
