Paramount Builders and Leonard, Street and Deinard | 01/31/2012
Whether you`re building a house or standing in front of a judge, it pays to have someone at your side who knows what he or she is doing. Today`s Inside Business introduces us to two professionals who are new to Bismarck.
As his crew puts the finishing touches on a home in the South Bay neighborhood south of Bismarck, Paramount Builders Co-Owner Jarred Roloff had a chance to catch his breath.
"The market is bare," he said "Everything`s getting bought up. Builders are putting in more specs this year, anticipating a good year, again that`s back-sided, but it`s by demand, we have a high demand right now."
In the past five years, Roloff has made his mark by building energy efficient homes. "We`re using thermal mass of the slab of grade, fits patio style home, so we`re using geothermal heat and in-floor heat combined in that system."
It`s not just his clients who are taking notice. Paramount Builders was recently listed in a Forbes Magazine article highlighting young entrepreneurs under the age of 30.
Roloff says he can build a typical home in less than four months, and a custom home can be finished in about five months.
On the north side of Bismarck, attorneys recently cut the ribbon on a new practice; Leonard, Street and Deinard.
"We have expertise that is hard to find outside of major cities like Minneapolis or Denver," said attorney Janelle Steger.
The firm specializes in a number of areas ranging from intellectual property rights and finance. But the firm specializes primarily in the energy sector, including oil and mineral rights.
"It does make it difficult, because it`s a highly specific area of law. You don`t want someone who just hangs out their shingle and doesn`t have any expertise or knowledge of the area doing your rights, because it`s a very important area. You want to protect everything you have," Steger said.
