Step inside this business on the west end of Main Avenue, and you`ll probably find just what you`re looking for...and more.
"I wanted to establish an environment that challenged your creativity, found your sense of humor, touched your heart. That`s what we fill the space with," said owner Ann Andre.
Andre had always collected unique items for her own home. A little more than twelve years ago, she gave in to those urging her to open a retail store.
"The fun thing about having a store named Junkyard Chic is we can be anything we want to be."
Andre settled into her current location on west Main ten years ago, and has since filled it with an mix of items that define the word "eclectic."
"When you have an eye for things you do find it and it does find you."
Some items she buys wholesale, others are handmade by artists. And still more she picks up along the way at different markets. Whatever it is she finds to sell...there usually won`t be many more like it. "Unique merchandise" and "customer service" are her watchwords.
"I hand pick everything, buy things I am drawn to, which is important. We try to stay really unique and have great customer service."
Andre says while she likes all the pieces in the store, she`s really drawn to the larger furniture pieces she`s put a lot of her own time and energy into refinishing.
"I love the furniture pieces because they`re all one of a kind and most of those I rework myself so I`ve become attached to them. There are several over the years that I`ve had a hard time letting go of."
The offerings at Junkyard Chic change with the seasons. You`ll find Christmas decorations in the winter, garden pieces in the spring, and a little bit of everything else all year long. Ultimately, Andre hopes her customers will find a piece that speaks to them as much as it does to her.
You can find out more about the store online at junkyardchic.com. But you can`t shop online. It`s a store you have to experience in person. - See more at: http://www.kfyrtv.com/News_Stories.asp?news=62298#sthash.gwKMFCLI.dpuf
