Practical Gifts for Dad

This Father`s Day, you don`t need to spend a lot to show Dad he`s a cut above the rest.

"We`ll get a big rush like on Saturday. Last minute shoppers looking for stuff for Dad," said Butcher Block Meats Owner Dan Kraft.

From steaks to chicken, Butcher Block Meats in Mandan is offering up several Father`s Day specials.

"So this`ll be the first time ever, prime rib`s on sale for Father`s Day. So we`ll prep them up for you, season them up and tell you how to cook them," Kraft said.

If your Padre likes to get his hands dirty, auto parts and gadgets for the garage are always useful.

"Tools are very big. What Dad doesn`t need tools?" said Chet Leingang, manager at O`Reilly Auto Parts.

From tools to cleaning products, O`Reilly Auto Parts also offers rebates on certain brands of motor oil.

"Oil change specials are going. Lots of appearance chemicals and appearance products are on sale right now. A good time to be shopping for Father`s Day," Leingang said.

If you want to give Dad a day off from the garage, you can always let him hit the golf course.

"Yeah, you see a lot of Dads coming out with complimentary rounds of golf they`ve gotten for the day," said Austin Vogel with Prairie West Golf.

If you don`t have the money to spend on a new putter, that`s ok. A free round or a few extra balls will allow your Pops to survive all 18 holes, even if that means he still has to grill his own steak when he gets home.

"We always kind of joke with them and ask if the wives are going to do the cooking, or the kids, and nine times out of ten, the dads say "no." They get stuck cooking anyway, and I think they enjoy it," Kraft said.

A few gifts that aim to please and will likely leave a little change in Daddio`s pocket.

If you prefer to grill with charcoal and find a low price, buy more than one bag. You can store it and it doesn`t go bad.
