State Hockey Tournament | Video

The regular season standings determine the girl`s pairings, while the region tournament is what determines how the boy`s teams qualify for the state hockey tournament. The Patriots are the top seed from the West, and while the state is dominated by the East on an annual basis, Century head coach Troy Olson hopes this week can prove the gap is tightening.

"It`s always fun to get those non-conference game in cause you get to see where you measure up and it seems like year by year we`re closing the gap a little bit. It`s nice to beat them regular season, but then everyone cranks it up at tournament time, that`s when we really got to get it done."

Century went 2 and 3 against teams from the East this season, beating West Fargo and Fargo North to start the year. The Patriots play the third game of the day on the Main-Rink against North.

The third-seeded Demons take on Grafton-Park River.

Red River is the one seed from the East.

The Blizzard had the third-best regular season in girl`s hockey. Bismarck faces Minot in the 1st-round on the Olympic sheet. West Fargo is the one and the heavy favorite. Grand Forks is second.
