Basketball Coal Bowl | Video

Lee Timmerman | 1/10/2013

When you are the defending state champion, with four of your top players returning, you cast a pretty big shadow. Hazen sits in that shadow and it has nothing to do with the fact that it`s just a few miles east of Beulah.

The Miners and the Bison play the basketball version of the Coal Bowl tonight. Beulah is number one ranked, which only adds to the excitement inside that building.

"They`re always fun and the gym is always packed and the atmosphere is the best ever. It`s not ever going to be a blowout. They`re always close rivalry games like they should be," said Beulah senior Trevor Zacher.

"It`s pretty tuned up. Everyone knows what`s going on and everyone is saying good luck and it`s fun, pretty great atmosphere I`d say," said Beulah senior Cody Nelson.

The game is in Beulah tonight and it`s the first of what could be many meetings between the two schools. They play in Hazen on the 25th of this month, plus they`re in the same district and region.
