The Class A basketball season gets started this week and the Century boys will have a different look this year. The Patriots relied a lot on All-Stater Tom Fraase on the offensive end but his gradation opens the door for what Darin Mattern feels could be a balanced attack.

"The thing that`s most impressed me to this point is I think we got some consistent guys that can score the ball and last year we weren`t always consistent scoring and I think this year we have eight or nine kids that can put the ball in the basket so I feel very confident on the offense end and obviously we`ll have to define some roles and get better."

The WDA usually opens with a few conference contests before teams take part in holiday tournament`s. Which means there`s important games right out of the gate.

"We`re to the point right now where we are kind of used to it so conference games early in the year are just as important as the games at the end of the year. You know you`re battling for seeding but obviously the most important thing is you want to improve and who`s every playing well down the stretch is usually the teams that advance so we`re not going to make it our Super Bowl but obviously we want to play well early and try to build on it and get better as we go along," Mattern said.

The Patriots begin in Williston on Friday. They are playing in the Gillette Energy Classic right after Christmas this year.
