Region XIII Champions | Video

In high school, the playoffs go district, region and state. In Junior College it`s region, district and nationals. The Bismarck State volleyball team has cleared the first hurdle. The Mystics beat Williston State for the region-13 title, and they hope to ride that momentum to a district championship this weekend.

"We just have to keep up our intensity like we did all weekend and all play together as a team. That really helped us this weekend. We picked each other up when we were down and made sure that we were going as hard after everything," said Mystics Fr. Outside Hitter Madison Deibert.

"Our confidence level, that`s been a huge part of our season. If we are down we are known to dig ourselves a hole and go quiet and this weekend we were able to stay loud no matter what was going on in the game and that`s going to be a huge part this weekend is just staying confident with each other and ourselves and playing our hardest," said Mystics Soph. Setter Payton Borud.

The quest for a district crown will be a big change from region play. Instead of a double-elimination tournament, the Mystics now play a best of three series against the same team on Friday and Saturday.

"You normally go to tournament play and you play a bunch of teams. Now it`s going to be the same game almost every night, but a different outcome so you never know how it`s going to go down," said Mystics Fr. Libero Casey Reamann.

Saturday`s region championship was Bismarck State`s first in 16 years. The series with Central Community College begins Friday at 7:00 p.m. on the Mystics` home court.
