Fridley Resigns At U-Mary | Video

After nine seasons at the University of Mary, Fred Fridley has resigned as the head women`s basketball coach of the Marauders. Fridley is stepping down to become the Director of Public Affairs at Sanford Health, and a big factor in the decision was the chance to spend more time at home.

"The travels, the recruiting trips, the late nights that you spend away from your family and beginning to be now a better husband and a better father also was a major contributing factor."

Today was Fridley`s last day at U-Mary, and he says the hardest part about leaving the university was this afternoon`s meeting with the players.

"From an emotional stand point, without a doubt, the one o`clock hour today was probably the toughest in my life as a basketball coach."

Assistant coach Rick Neumann will be the acting head coach this upcoming season. Neumann has been with the program for the past nine years.

The Marauders start practice in two weeks.
