Top Five Match Up | Video

Lee Timmerman | 9/27/2012

It`s something I don`t recall ever happened before in the Capital-City, a match-up of top five teams in 9-Man football during the regular season. That`s because Shiloh Christian has played its way into the statewide poll.

Despite their brand new number five ranking, the Skyhawks will be the underdog tomorrow night. They are hosting third ranked Divide County.

"They`ve been bigger than every team they`ve faced and it will be no different this Friday night. They probably outweigh us along the offensive and defensive line easily by about 70 pounds a kid and that`s something we can`t simulate in practice and we`re doing the best job we can but we`re a little quicker that they are and hopefully we can take advantage of that," said head coach Funnon Barker.

The Skyhawks can attribute most of their offensive success to their ground game and everyone knows you can`t run it unless the blocking is solid.

"They`ve done an amazing job blocking for all of our backs and they`ve really been getting it done up front," said sophomore Blake Emmel.

"Winning is always fun and we`ve been doing well and our offense has been able to move the ball really well and defense has done its job when we need stops," said senior Taylor Crothers.

Shiloh and Divide are a combined 12-0. The Skyhawks play their home games at Hughes Field.
