KFYR-TV is offering a local and unique opportunity for students in the Bismarck and Dickinson viewing areas to write and read a television story with our anchors! "Students do the News" is held at Kirkwood Mall. This year we are moving the event from October 2009 to January 2010! New date TBA soon! Students in grades 4 through 9 are eligible to participate.

Students write a 30 to 40-second story on current events, weather or sports. The KFYR-TV camera crew and news set will be in place at Kirkwood Mall and students will read their news stories “on camera.”

Each student will receive a videotape of his or her news story and a special gift for participating. Winners receive Kirkwood Mall gift certificates. A few weeks after the event, KFYR-TV will air the first place students’ news stories during Country Morning Today and the 5 PM and 10 PM newscasts.
