Midwest Business Systems has been fixing printers, providing computer systems, and helping businesses otherwise get the job done in Bismarck since 1989. Now, they`ll have a new name.

Midwest Business Systems has come a long way since it`s beginning in 1989 in a small downtown storefront when it focused on copiers, fax machines, and typewriters.

"As the digital era evolved, we changed our products. Our current products are digital multi-function devices and network systems," said Marty Presler with Midwest Business Systems.

Technology isn`t the only thing changing. Midwest Business Systems will soon be changing its name.

In December, Midwest Business Systems was acquired by St. Cloud-based Marco.

"The Marco acquisition brings some valuable resources to the area, resources that are in high demand in central and western North Dakota," Presler said.

Marco is a 100 percent employee owned company with locations in 35 cities throughout the Midwest. They provide basically the same services as Midwest Business Systems, but they take it to the next level.

Presler says as Midwest Business Systems transitions to the new brand Marco, they`ll also be adding additional customer service, including managed IT services and a 24/7 help desk for their business clients.

"They bring a huge knowledge base."

Change can be challenging for any established business, but aside from a different logo and no more red trucks, customers won`t notice much of a difference.

"We`ve been going through the transformation, learning the new procedures. It`s gone well," Presler said.

Just like they did under the old name, the roughly 30 employees at Midwest Business Systems will continue to stay on top of the technological advancements in the industry.

When Midwest Business Systems opened, they served clients in Bismarck and Mandan. Now they have locations in Williston, Minot, Devils Lake, Jamestown and Dickinson.
