Campaign Contributions Bill | Video

Jessica Roose | 3/15/2013

Members of the House Government and Veteran Affairs Committee approved of a bill this morning that would clear up the law regarding campaign contributions. The bill would allow for companies to accept contributions from their subsidiaries and donate the funds in one political action committee.

The law had not specified for that type of a contribution before, and one organization actually had to get money back from a campaign last election cycle.

"The attorney discovered that we should not be soliciting our downstream affiliates, if you will, and literally we had to make refunds to the folks so that we could come in compliance with the law," said Dan Ulmer with Blue Cross Blue Shield.

The law would apply to state elections.
