Main Street Minute: Sammy`s Pizza | Video

Sarahbeth Ackerman | 3/4/2013

One key ingredient to having a successful business is consistency. And one way to do that is to keep it in the family. Generations and generations of family members have been working at Sammy`s Pizza, but it`s also a tradition for those who keep coming back to grab a slice.

"I just like that feeling when you come here. You almost feel like your family because it`s just so cozy and warm here. So, it`s almost like a second home," said manager Angie Osborn.

For Osborn, she grew up surrounded by sauces and dough. "I mean, there are lots of good memories here. It`s always been fun to have it."

Her Uncle Bert opened the pizzeria in 1959. Sammy`s Pizzeria prides themselves on keeping their business in the family. But, that`s not all. Every bite you take is homemade.

"I think we just try to keep tradition," said Osborn.

And that`s exactly what they are trying to do.

"I know my son, he`s nine. And, he makes his own pizza already," said Osborn.

So it looks like nothing is going to have to change.

Sammy`s Pizza starts their day at 4:30 in the morning just to start on all of their handmade items, like sauces, dough, and meatballs.
