The numbers don`t lie. Minot Police are seeing a spike in the crime rate.

This past weekend, officers made 27 arrests on Saturday alone.

The crimes ranged from numerous drug charges, to possession of marijuana, and driving under the influence.

Some of these arrests also included additional charges for each person.

Senior Patrolman, Aaron Moss said the contributing factor to the spike on Saturday is the growing population, but he said Minot PD is not worried.

"You are going to see a rise in crime. Last Saturday`s arrests still only accounted for .0006 percent of the city`s population. So, while yes, it was busier, it is certainly not a dangerous community," said Moss.

Moss said law enforcement is very unpredictable.

And, there are times where they can go weeks without a substantial workload whereas other days they can see a rise.
