Lawmakers Discuss Crossover | Video

Jessica Roose | 2/18/2013

Leaders of the Republican Party say lawmakers have a lot to get done this week as they continue to move closer to crossover. House Majority Leader Al Carlson says it`s important that the legislature look at one time spending options and set up a rainy day fund.

The Senate Majority leader stressed the need to make sure that everything that is passed is sustainable into the future.

“If you do something and you give people something, taking it away is very difficult. So as I look at as we come to the end of this first part of the session, we are setting the table so we can fine tune things in the next round,” said Senator Rich Wardner (R) from Dickinson.

Members of the Democratic Party say if they want to make sure that things are sustainable they should not be supporting cuts to the oil extraction tax.
