It was a busy day at car washes around the Bismarck Mandan area, as it was the first warm day after dirty snow and salt covered the roads for weeks. M &H Touchless Car Wash in Mandan had a line into the street and some drivers waited up to half an hour to go through the wash.

Some residents say they always take advantage of the mild weather to make their car nice and shiny. "It`s a new car and we try to keep it clean, but boy, with the way the roads have been, with the salt and everything, I don`t want that to sit on there and make holes," said Fern Eade.

"I`ve been waiting to get it washed for three, four days and so this afternoon it looked like it was a good time to come over here," said Dennis Miller.

Scott McQuay added, "I`m going to be busy the rest of the week and it was nice and warm out. I figured it would be a good day to get it done. "

To avoid frozen locks, drivers say they wait until the temperatures rise above 20 to wash their cars.
