Minot Area Boy Scout District Earns National Award

| 1/25/2013

A Boy Scout district covering the Minot area has received a national award. The Tomahawk District, which covers Minot, Burlington, Surrey, Kenmare, Garrison, Harvey and Rolla, earned the Gold Level Journey to Excellence award. This is the highest award for a scouting district.

“This award is groundbreaking for the volunteers, Scouts, and alumni involved in our organization,” said Tomahawk District Executive Kevin Mehrer. “This District had a banner year in all facets – program, membership growth, camping, advancing youth in the program, and community service.”

The gold designation means that the district is among the top 10 percent in the country.
