A team of young synchronized skaters from Bismarck are aiming to glide right into the national championships. The Capital Ice Chips are heading to Michigan this week to compete in the Midwestern Synchronized Skating sectionals. They`ve scored the highest in their division, and have made it to the nationals the last two years.

"I`m so excited," said Selena Morris, one of the skaters. "We`re going into it with a really strong program and we have a really good chance of winning it, and that`s our goal right now. We have to place fourth or higher at sectionals. In the past two years, we`ve placed fourth. So we`re hoping to get higher than that. We are definitely like sisters. We hang out all the time, we`re really close. They`re definitely friends I will have after high school for sure, for my life."

The Ice Chips have been practicing every day since last summer.
