Military Suicides Increase | Video

Amy Fox | 1/16/2013

According to the Pentagon, the number of military suicides is growing at a record pace. In 2012, there was almost one each day and that number is expected to increase. But, there are programs that the military has in place to get ahead of the problem. The North Dakota Army National Guard introduced a resiliency program to help service men and women respond to tough situations in a healthy way.

"Suicide and any other issue that affects our military we absolutely take seriously,” said North Dakota Army National Guard Public Affairs Officer Dan Murphy. “It is just implemented in everything we do to help one another. And, so, any of those programs, any of those information pieces, or any part of that resiliency program all boils down to taking care of one another."

Murphy says the resiliency program is implemented in all of the National Guard`s training.
