Bald Eagle Survey

According to a recent survey, the number of bald eagles in North Dakota this winter is above average. The midwinter bald eagle survey, which was conducted on January 10 along the Missouri River, revealed 61 bald eagles.

According the the North Dakota Game and Fish Department, large numbers of waterfowl are leading to a higher number of bald eagles in the state. "A change in weather conditions will force waterfowl to migrate further south, thus the eagles will follow," said Game and Fish conservation biologist Patrick T Isakson.

The survey is done in coordination with other surveys around the country.
