Future of the Legacy Fund | Video

Jennifer Joas | 1/15/2013

The North Dakota Legacy Fund was set up for future North Dakotans. But beyond that, there are really no parameters on what the money is intended for. That`s why Senator Dwight Cook (R) approached the Industry, Business and Labor committee to testify on behalf of a bill that would study ways to spend the legacy fund.

"It`s the people fund. And it needs to be spent on the people of North Dakota. I have one conviction, very strong, about how we spend this. It needs to be spent in a manner that will always protect and be available for future generations," Cook said.

The fund already has $1.2 billion and is projected to get another $1.7 billion during this new biennium.
