If you`re not taking the time to properly scrape off your windshield, you could pay the price. There is a state law that says you cannot drive with any obstructions. This includes snow, sleet, ice or any signs on your front windshield.

If law enforcement sees you driving around with a frosted-over windshield, you could be stopped and issued a $20 fine.

"If people would take that extra 20 minutes and take that time to get that snow and the sleet off their windshield, they would probably not be in an accident. Which would save us time and keep us out on the streets where we can do other traffic stops, such as a red light violations that also cause crashes," said Kate Debowey, Minot Police Senior Patrol Officer.

Debowey says the front, rear and side windows must be clear when operating a vehicle at all times.
