Williston Commission Approves Bypass | Video

Chris Williams | 12/27/2012

The temporary bypass around Williston was built knowing there would one day be a permanent one. The route for the permanent bypass has been debated on for a while now, but Williston city commissioners took a step forward at their meeting last night.

Commissioners voted to approve an alternative route for the permanent bypass. The route will follow the yellow line north until it runs into cultural resources, then it will cut west onto the proposed red route at 142nd Avenue, before curving back onto 56th street.

The original route followed the yellow line the entire way, but cultural resources forced the diversion further west.

County commissioners plan on voting on the new proposal at their next meeting on January 8. The DOT would like both sides to agree before the plan can move forward.
