No Parking at the Williston Airport | Video

Evan Kruegel | 12/21/2012

If you plan on parking at the Williston airport this weekend, you might want to think again.

"What we`re asking people to do is carpool or get a ride. The parking lot right now is full,” said Airport Manager Steven Kjergaard.

Regina Sisco showed up at 6:30 looking for a spot. After half an hour, she made the decision to drive home and get a ride back in to the airport.

"I`ve come here before and left my truck when I flew home. It`s not easy finding a spot, but usually there`s at least one if you wait. Today? Nothing, cars were lined up down the road, in the parking lot, everywhere."

In a desperation move, cars have now begun parking in clearly marked no parking zones. But that isn`t going to fly with airport officials.

"If you`re outside of those, or if you`re in a spot we know is not a spot, we will tow your vehicle,” said Kjergaard.

They have set up an agreement with Williston police and public works, which will allow vehicles to park along 4th Ave and 35th street.

"You can park along the roads adjacent to the airport without fear of being towed because of a snow emergency route."

But if you don`t want to walk a half mile with your luggage, well, you might want to find a ride.
