North Dakota Ranked First in Personal Income Growth | Video

Jennifer Joas | 12/19/2012

North Dakota is already ranked as the best run state in the nation, and has the lowest unemployment rate. Now comes word that the state also leads the nation in personal income growth. The U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis shows that the personal income growth of North Dakotans increased by 1.4 percent during the third quarter, while it slowed nationwide.

State leaders say they`re not surprised by the growth because it`s been going on since 2000.

"It does apply pressure on providers of work. Essentially wages should continue to grow. And the exciting part is it`s not just one energy, or one sector. It`s not just the mining or energy sector," said Al Anderson with the Department of Commerce.

Wages have steadily increased statewide, not just in western North Dakota.
