Heavy Holiday Mail Traffic | Video

Amy Fox | 11/29/2012

From Christmas cards to gifts, the United States Postal Service is keeping very busy during this holiday season. But there are ways to avoid the long lines at the post office. In addition to the main post office, there are four contract stations at Marketplace Grocery stores in Minot, where you can buy stamps and ship packages up to 70 pounds.

But, are those additional locations taking business away from the main post office?

"We actually work together very well and it`s more convenient for our customers,” said Minot USPS Carrier Supervisor Sherry Mcconnel. “It`s not taking away from the business. It`s just helping our customers."

"They can get two things done at once. They can get a little shopping done, not such long lines. We have two people going, so we can get them going pretty quick in and out,” said Zac Miller, Marketplace Foods Arrowhead Manager.

If you`re trying to avoid the crowds altogether, you can do your mailing online.
