Change in Your Pocket: I`d Buy That for $2 | Video

Joel Porter | 11/29/2012

So those lucky numbers of yours weren`t so lucky. Not the end of the world. After all, two dollars doesn`t get you much these days. Wait a minute, yes it does! Like four postage stamps at the Post Office; two of anything at the Dollar Tree or two screwdrivers at Lowes.

Two dollars can also pay 20 days in late fees at the public library.

"Anyone who lives in Burleigh County can get a library card. It`s free of charge," said Bismarck Library Head of Circulation Christine Kujawa.

Two dollars gets you .58 gallons of gas. No, you can`t fill your tank on two dollars. But you can help out a third world country.

"Especially in Central America where a dollar can literally feed their children for the day," said Angela Miller with the God`s Child Project.

Two cans of pasta sauce. Four pounds of bananas. Ten boxes of macaroni and cheese, with a coupon. Two waffle cones at TCBY on Wednesday.

A two-dollar bill. That one`s kind of obvious.

Do you like movies or TV shows? You can get four non-new release rentals.

To sum up, before you go and spend two dollars on a pipe dream like the Powerball, consider all of the cool things you can buy. And as Kevin Lawrence suggests, buy someone else a three dollar cup of coffee. You have a one-in-one chance of making his or her day. That`s change in your pocket.

The God`s Child Project is seeking even more donations for people in Guatemala after an earthquake hit the country earlier this month.
