"I hit the food tray a few times too many, so I gotta work it off," said Harley Routledge.
"It was nice to enjoy family and indulge in food for a day, but I gotta get back to some good habits,” said his daughter Alison.
Elite Fitness had already signed up five new members by 11:00 this morning. While New Year`s resolutions tend to bring in the most new customers, large holiday meals often do the same.
"A lot of people went out and ate too much, so events like that do spark a new interest in people trying to get back onto a routine," said personal trainer Calum Kinstler.
Across town at 24 Hour Fitness, a similar workout rush was on. Joseph Stewart said his oil field co-workers who weren`t working were shopping. He, on the other hand, had different plans.
“I kinda broke my diet a little bit. All the pies, turkey, ham. I gotta get that back off me man, gotta get back on my diet."
Personal trainers say that the post-Thanksgiving remorse is actually quite common.
"Usually they feel guilty so they`ll workout pretty hard and usually longer than normal, just to work off that Thanksgiving meal," said Anytime Fitness employee Josie Fagerlan.
Even for those who did hit the gym, burning off that feast is no easy task. An average adult male would need to jog for four hours, hit the elliptical for six and a half hours or go for a 13 hour casual walk.
