Civic Center Expansion Supporters Not Giving Up | Video

Jennifer Joas | 11/9/2012

The proposed food and lodging tax to expand the Bismarck civic center failed in a big way on Tuesday. But supporters say they aren`t giving up just yet. The measure called for $90 million to enlarge the exhibit hall and add other amenities. Supporters say the facility is not ideal for meetings and conferences.

They say other centers in the region are expanding, so the improvements are needed in order to compete.

"We are very hopeful that as we start to look at the results and gather more discussion from the community, we can get a good understanding of what it is voters would like to see different," said Bismarck-Mandan Chamber President, Kelvin Hullet.

Hullet says supporters will continue their efforts towards expansion.
