Jennifer Joas | 11/6/2012

In Norway, oil is the largest industry, employing 200,000 people, and the Bakken is becoming a place of interest. Norway`s Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Ola Borten Moe, visited Bismarck today with several oil executives to observe operations in the Bakken.

Statoil is a Norwegian-based company, which recently started operating in western North Dakota. The minister says what`s happening with unconventional oil plays in the U.S. is interesting and important to understand.

"I see that Statoil is investing quite heavily at the moment and they are a putting a lot of effort to succeed in North America. I very much hope that they will do so," he said.

The minister and Statoil staff will be visiting Williston tomorrow.
