DPI Race Funding | Video

Jessica Roose | 11/5/2012

One of the statewide candidates in this week`s election says he`s concerned about who`s funding his opponent`s campaign. Tracy Potter, who is running for Superintendent of Public Instruction, says his opponent Kirsten Baesler, has received $40,000 from the Republican party.

The Superintendent race is non-partisan, and Potter questions why the Republican Party would get involved.

"There is nothing illegal in this. I think it`s a violation of good civics and I`m a civics teacher and these are the kind of things that get to me," Potter said.

Baesler said in a statement that she is grateful for all the support she has received from others, including the Republican party. She says party involvement in this race is not new and has been going on for decades.
