More Red Cross Help on the Way | Video

Rene Thibault | 10/31/2012

Another team of Red Cross Volunteers heading for the East-Cost left from Minot earlier today. North Dakota residents Melissa Sheppard and Dave Smette are driving an Emergency Response Vehicle to New Brunswick, New Jersey to help with the disaster recovery efforts. The team will be handing out food, water, and care packages to communities affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The two volunteers know the importance of being ready for any situation.

“As Red Crossers we have to be prepared for and flexible for whatever is going to happen, we`re taking the ERV and we will be serving the people. There`s a lot of power outages, so there`s going to be a lot of people in need," said Sheppard

All North Dakota Red Cross teams are on a two week deployment to the east coast.
