A Lasting Impression | Video

It`s not the Sistine Chapel, but it`s still impressive.

"It has a very Cathedral feel to it and so that`s what I wanted, that when you first walk in the door that this is greeting you," said UTTC Art Marketing Program Director Wayne Pruse.

UTTC students are transforming the Idea Center`s common area into an indoor bistro.

"Trompe l`oeil is a trick of the eye and it`s really making a comeback now, over way back, Renaissance periods, when it was really popular and before," Pruse said.

The Idea Center provides guidance to entrepreneurs and is doing the same for these interns.

"This is giving the students an opportunity to come in, prepare a project, deliver the results, go through management. To be able to take a look at what kind of changes we`ve asked them to do. We`ve made a few modifications for the project and so they`ve been able modify the project plan and deliver it," said Idea Center Executive Director Julie Kuennen.

"It`s kind of nerve wracking and exciting at the same time," said Fine Arts major Quinn Austin.

"And this is what we`re doing right now. We`ve got three of us and John Nagel, he`s the grey so he paints all the grey and has a certain look to his brushwork," Pruse said.

The students work on the mural between classes and the actual painting part of it is expected to take six to eight weeks.

The Idea Center is holding it`s annual fundraiser "Innovation Harvest" Thursday, November 29. Money from the silent auction helps fund internships like the one you just saw in our story.
