Here at NBC North Dakota News, we believe strongly in localism. By that, we mean we want our newscasts to really address the needs and concerns of our viewers right here in Western North Dakota. As part of that, we have attempted to schedule debates with the state`s top candidates that would air statewide in prime time. So far only the two candidates for Congress, Pam Gulleson and Kevin Cramer, have taken us up on that offer. That debate will be on October 9th at 8:00 p.m.

Additionally, we are offering the candidates for the state`s top offices a chance to talk with you on First News at Five. We begin tonight with Governor Jack Dalrymple, who is running for election against Ryan Taylor. We will start with a statement by the governor, and after a break, we`ll take the time to ask a few questions.
