Dickinson 2013 Budget at $73 Million | Video

Alex Hagan | 10/1/2012

Dickinson`s 2013 budget is reaching unprecedented levels. The city`s budget is now more than $73 million because of oil impact needs including a new wastewater plant, public works building, and a new public safety building.

City leaders say the costs of these projects are expensive, but needed to keep up with growth.

"You need roads, you need water systems, you need sewer systems and you also need adequate buildings to make sure that we can house the equipment and make sure that it lasts as long as it`s scheduled to last so it`s part of the maintenance process," said city administrator Shawn Kessel.

Dickinson`s budget was around $23 million dollars in 2010.
