More Students at Longfellow | Video

Sarahbeth Ackerman | 8/22/2012

Another school year is underway, but for Longfellow Elementary, that means another year in a temporary school structure. But that has not stopped enrollment numbers from climbing.

Longfellow welcomed 50 new students this term, leading the beginning of the year with a total capacity of 310 students.

"It`s pretty exciting for us to see the construction going on everyday and we are in this temporary structure for another year but we are in a wonderful setting. We have everything we need to provide a quality education to students. The students are happy here, It`s familiar to them but it is exciting again to see and know that next year at time we will be moving into a new school building," said principal Tracey Lawson.

Lawson says she expects a higher capacity of students and teachers once they begin to move into the new school next fall.
