Time Capsule Opened | Video

Evan Kruegel | 8/22/2012

Back in 1987, students at Rickard elementary put together a time capsule to be opened on the first day of school 25 years later. That day finally came today.

Patricia Lund is still a teacher at Rickard Elementary, and she remembers placing the capsule in the ground.

"Twenty-five years ago, we put this time capsule together, the boys and girls of Rickard Elementary, and at that moment, and even ten years later, I remembered what was in there, but today it`s all erased."

Inside the capsule, students found artwork, along with pictures of food, games, and TV shows that were popular at the time. One girl even made a bold prediction that humans would make it to Mars by 2012.

School administrators plan on having this current group of students make another time capsule, to be opened by students on the first day of school in 2037.
