Rural Mandan Propane Leak | Video

Jennifer Joas | 6/13/2012

Mandan Rural Firefighters were called to a minor propane leak on County Road 139A west of Mandan. The homeowner, Larry Miller, was digging postals in preparation of building a deck. He had the propane line marked off. However after starting to dig he still hit a line.

The line is connected to a 1,000 gallon propane tank sitting right behind the house. He says he was worried about the leak being so close to the home and immediately called the fire department.

"The valve busted off. It`s an old tank. It`s from 1971. And I was a little worried because I could hear the propane leaking. But thankfully it was windy today so I knew it was going to dissipate."

The fire department was unable to turn off the valve, so they called in a propane company to turn off the propane.
