Diagnosing Autism | Video

Michelle San Miguel | 6/8/2012

Access to medical care isn`t always easy for those who live in rural areas. Brandy Kracke knows that all too well. She says she knew her son wasn`t developing normally when he was four-months-old.

Kracke took her son to three doctors trying to figure out what was wrong with him. But doctors in Jamestown, Minot and Fargo couldn`t figure out what was wrong.

Kracke continued looking for answers until last October when a Bismarck doctor confirmed her suspicion- her son had autism.

"He has autism. Nobody else around us has it. There`s not a single person in a 62-mile radius that has autism besides him," she said.

Tomorrow night at 6:00 we`ll have much more on Kracke`s story and tell you what advice she has for parents with autistic children.

Tomorrow is also the fifth annual Autism Awareness Walk. Registration begins at 9:00 at Horizon Middle School in Bismarck. The walk starts at 10:00.
