The North Dakota National Guard Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors is kicking off a week long event honoring fallen North Dakota Service Members. North Dakota is sending 23 family members to the Tragedy Assistance Program event in Washington DC, an annual event in the city over Memorial Day.

The event helps survivors through the grieving process of losing loved ones and the state would not be able to send families without donations from various companies.

"Outstanding event, helps them with the healing process, allows them to interact with others who experienced the same things they have, and again we`re extremely proud of North Dakota that every year we`ve been able to send our surrounding families out to the TAPS programs through the generous donations of others," said Brig. Gen. Alan Dohrmann.

KFYR-TV was one of several companies to make a donation to the TAPS program.
