| 5/14/2012

All government agencies will fly their flags at half staff tomorrow in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day. The flags will be lowered to honor law enforcement officials who have fallen in the line of duty.

In accordance with the proclamation signed by the President, Governor Jack Dalrymple has declared Tuesday, May 15 Peace Officers Memorial Day in the state. He also declared May 13-19 as Law Enforcement Week in the state.

"North Dakota remains one of the safest states in the nation, and that is due in large part to the law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every day to protect and serve their fellow citizens," Dalrymple said. "We honor their valor and devotion and thank them for keeping our communities safe and secure. On this occasion, we also remember those who have lost their lives in the name of justice and pay tribute to them for their selfless acts of heroism, including Bismarck Police Sergeant Steven Kenner and Burleigh County Sheriff`s Deputy Bryan Sleeper who died in the line of duty last year."

Both American and North Dakota flags will be flown at half staff.
