Pit Bull Hero | Video
11/5/2009
An 11-year-old Oregon boy is being hailed as a hero after saving his younger siblings from an angry pit bull.

Juan Rivera was playing outside his Klamath County home when his panicked younger brother ran past, telling Juan he was being chased by an angry dog.

Before Juan could react the dog jumped over a fence and began biting him.

After a brief struggle he was able to get away from the dog and make it to the open door of his house.

That`s when he made a brave decision.

Knowing the dog was right behind him, he chose to close the door before it could rush inside.

That left him outside with the angry pit bull, but meant his younger brother and sister would be safe inside.

Neighbors quickly arrived and pulled the dog off of Juan.

It was later euthanized by animal control and its owners are now facing charges.

Juan is recovering from multiple bite wounds, but should make a full recovery.
