Former Blues Official Pleads Guilty
11/2/2009
A former Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota official has pleaded guilty to possessing more than 640,000 pictures and 2,000 videos of child pornography.

Robert Scheiring is charged in federal court with distribution and possession of child pornography. He pleaded guilty Monday to both counts.

Scheiring, 43, faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison, with a minimum mandatory sentence of five years. A sentencing date has not been set.

Authorities say Scheiring admitted being a member of about a dozen bulletin boards dealing in the exchange of child pornography and viewed some of the pornographic images while at work.

Scheiring resigned in May as an assistant vice president of actuarial services at Blue Cross in Fargo.
