| Dakotas Health System Merger Approved |

| The two largest health systems in the Dakotas have now merged. The Fargo-based MeritCare board of trustees voted Monday morning to approve the merger with Sanford Health of Sioux Falls, S.D. It takes effect immediately. Officials say Sanford`s board approved the merger last week. The new system is Sanford Health & MeritCare. It has 14,000 employees. The hospitals will have a coverage area of 130,000 square miles, including parts of North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. |
