ROB MARTIN
Weekend Meteorologist
I have dreamed of being a weatherman since I was very young, and now KFYR-TV has made that a reality! With the wide array of fascinating North Dakota weather, it's going to be a big change from where I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon.
I left the Pacific Northwest to attend college at the University of Utah, where I graduated with a degree in meteorology. While there, I was president of the student chapter of the American Meteorological Society (AMS). After returning home, I became a weather producer for the local Fox affiliate for about a year, prior to my move to North Dakota. My goal while at KFYR-TV is to obtain my Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) television seal, which is the highest distinction one can achieve by the AMS.
My favorite kind of weather is a good old-fashioned snowstorm because I love to play in it! This stems from growing up where a dusting of snow will get you out of school for day. I also enjoy a nice summer day to take in the sun. When I am not watching the weather you can find me playing outside - I love to camp, ski, mountain bike, and golf a little.
