MICHELLE SAN MIGUEL
Reporter
I was born and raised in Miami, Florida, but I’m not a stranger to cold winters and big snowfalls. I spent four years in central New York where I graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse University with dual majors in broadcast journalism and international relations. While there, I was awarded the Don Edwards Broadcast Journalism Award.
During my time in Syracuse, I reported for the university’s ABC News on Campus bureau. Some of my work appeared on ABC’s World News and the World News Webcast. I also served as an anchor, executive producer and director for CitrusTV Noticias, a Spanish-language newscast. Although my passion is reporting, I really enjoyed delving into more of the production aspect of television news. Additionally, I spent two years working for CONNECT, a public affairs program that airs around central New York. While back home in Miami, I spent a summer interning at the NBC and Telemundo stations.
Before coming to KFYR, I spent time in some small towns in Washington state completing a fellowship through the Carnegie-Knight Initiative. While in Washington, I reported on recent high school graduates who joined the military and covered a marine’s transition from military life back into mainstream society.
I am thrilled to be here in Bismarck and to explore all that North Dakota has to offer. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, reading, running, and talking with my family and friends back home. I’m looking forward to Bismarck’s much-awaited summers and enjoying the beauty of the Missouri River. I love being able to talk with viewers on Facebook about what I’m working on for that day. It's also a great tool for me to use to give viewers a look on what happens behind the scenes. I’m always looking for story ideas about energy so feel free to share any that are on your mind.
