JODY KERZMAN
Assistant News Director, Anchor
I am a South Dakota girl at heart...I grew up in Bison, South Dakota. I came to North Dakota for college, and haven't left. I went to the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton for two years, then finished my degree at Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minnesota. I started at KFYR in 1997 as a photographer and the city beat reporter. Over the years, I've learned to do everything but farm news and sports. I've done weather, produced, anchored and covered the political beat. Now I wear many hats in the newsroom, including assistant news director, First News at 5:00 producer, and fill-in anchor. I also do weekly parenting stories. A parent myself, these stories are my favorite, because I get to learn more about issues that are near and dear to my heart.
Reporting truly is my first love, and the reason I chose this profession. I love meeting new people, getting out of the office, and hearing people's stories. We have amazing people with tremendous stories to tell in North Dakota. I feel fortunate to have received several awards over the years for performing the job that I love.
Highlights of my career so far include interviewing Garth Brooks and traveling to New York City shortly after the September 11th terrorist attacks. Those are experiences I will never forget, and had it not been for my job as a reporter, I never would have had.
Away from work, my family takes up the rest of my time. My husband Brad and I have three children, Alexis, Jacob, and Elizabeth...as well as two dogs, Bob and Windsor. I am quickly becoming a "soccer mom," as my husband and I have passed our love of sports on to our kids. I already find my Saturdays booked with soccer practice and basketball camp.
When I'm not busy being a mom, you'll find me playing basketball or volleyball or scrapbooking. |
