AMANDA TETLAK
Weekend Anchor / Reporter
I am so glad to be here in Bismarck all the way from sunny Orlando, Florida. I didn't live in Florida all my life. I was born in a tiny town in the Wilkes- Barre/Scranton area of Northeastern, Pennsylvania. When I was 10 years- old we had a horrible winter and when there was 8 feet of snow on the ground, my parents said, "That's it! We're moving to Florida!" And we did just that.
I finished off middle school and high school in Lakeland, Florida where I got my first taste of being part of a news team. I reported the morning news every day and when it was time to start thinking about college, there wasn't anything else I'd rather do than be a reporter. I set my sights on the University of Central Florida in Orlando and was selected into the Broadcast/Journalism program. There, I was a reporter, anchor, and photographer for UCF's Knightly News.
My final semester in college I got an internship at WFTV in Orlando; the ABC affiliate and the top- rated station in the Orlando market. The station truly taught me the most about the business. From there I was lucky enough to get a copywriting job at the station. After graduation I continued working at WFTV, but I knew copywriting wasn't what I really wanted to do, so I continued looking for a reporting job. So here I am and I couldn't be happier! You'll find me reporting a few days during the week and anchoring the Evening and Night Reports on the weekends.
Aside from work, I love acting, singing, and dancing. I am very outgoing and just love being around people. Mostly I enjoy good company and great conversation.
I look forward to seeing just how well I handle my first "real" winter in 12 years. |
